Institute for Social Ecology Presents The Vermont Premiere of Life Running Out of Control:
Genfood and Designer Babies

A new, feature-length film by Bertram Verhaag and Gabriele Krber,
the makers of Killing Seeds
* Indian farmers face ruin from planting genetically modified cotton.
* GM canola contaminates neighboring farms in Canada, making
ecological farming impossible.
* Iceland sells its population's genetic data to a private company
* Researchers aim to collect samples from 700 endangered ethnic
groups to benefit pharmaceutical research.
* A handful of idealistic scientists defy industry and continue
researching the effects of transgenic plants and animals on the
environment and our health

Thursday, January 6th, at the ISE
1118 Maple Hill Rd. in Plainfield
Potluck dinner at 5:30, Film at 6:30
Discussion to follow

Questions: Call 454-8493

Directions: The ISE is on Maple Hill, about a mile from
Plainfield's lower village. From Montpelier, take Rt. 2 10 miles to
Plainfield (be sure to bear right at the intersection of 2 and 14 in
East Montpelier). Go through the upper village on Rt. 2 to the
blinking light (in front of Plainfield Hardware), and bear right
into the lower village. Keep going straight, with the church on
your right and 2 restaurants on your left. Go through the village
until you come to a fork in the road; bear left onto Maple Hill and
head straight uphill. When the road levels off, there are 2 small
horse farms on both sides of the road; the ISE is the next 2 green
buildings on your right. There's a painted sign. Park in the lot
and come to the back building.
